Meadowbrook Custom Building is founded and operated by me, Charlie Carden. Since childhood, I have been fascinated with our natural and built environment. I have worked in construction since I was 16 and continued to do so while and after earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability Studies from Pitzer College in California. In a long and diverse career in Los Angeles, I have built, managed, and installed exhibits for cultural institutions such as The Smithsonian, fabricated high end retail fixtures for clients including Bang & Olufson, and my residential work has been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest and Remodelista.

My partner and I relocated to the hilltowns of Western Massachusetts in 2022 in search of a change of pace and setting. Meadowbrook Custom Building is named after the brook that runs through our property.

The goal of Meadowbrook Custom Building is to combine all of my experience to provide a high quality custom building service to residents of Western Massachusetts and the Hudson Valley. I believe that clear communication and streamlined processes are as important to construction as clean cuts and expensive tools. I love the natural world in which we all exist and aim to honor and reflect that in how I contribute to our built environment. I am as meticulous as a carpenter as I am as a project manager and designer and thus able to provide a unique service that is both detail oriented and comprehensive in its approach.

Working with me you can expect clear communication, predetermined expectations, professionalism, and an approach that prioritizes environmental and social justice. I currently hold Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License (CSL) Home Improvement Contractor License (HIC) and general liability insurance.
